Student Activities

The Chapter is sponsoring a mechanical engineering senior capstone project again this year! Students are back on campus working remotely and starting their senior capstone project.  Since the start of their semester the students have picked the option of the ASHRAE design competition that focuses on design calculations and the layout of the system.  Collaborating with their professors the ASHRAE advisors are bringing in outside resources to provide a live look into the world of HVAC as a professional.  In the coming weeks the goal is for the students to gain a better understanding of HVAC as a whole and prepare to move forward with this project as a mechanical engineer would.  This year a new requirement for the students is to become members of the Syracuse University ASHRAE Chapter, hopefully bringing others along with them.

The Chapter is also continuing to provide two $500 scholarships for OCM BOCES’s HVAC program. One recipient will receive the award for this fall semester and another recipient will receive the award during the spring semester.
