Presidential Message

I am excited to welcome back our members and kicking off our chapter’s 2020-2021 society year! Although, this year’s meetings and events will look a bit difference given the COVID -19 pandemic, our board has been working hard to continue our monthly meeting programs virtually, and identify how our chapter can help our community during these times.

This year, we will be starting off the year with virtual monthly meetings planned from September to December. These virtual meetings will typically take place during lunch-time, 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM. We have reserved our spot at the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que for January to May, in the hopes that we can meet in-person for drinks and BBQ dinners this spring. The chapter will continue to monitor state guidelines on large gatherings, and make a decision accordingly on when in-person meetings can resume. As a chapter, our first priority is keeping our members and community safe. Please monitor our events page for upcoming meetings!

The ASHRAE society has been playing a critical role during the pandemic by providing building readiness and reopening guidance in relation to the operation and maintenance of heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems. Over the summer, our members have been working hard to implement these indoor air quality improvements for our own local community in Central New York. I would like to thank all our members for all the work you are doing to facilitate buildings reopening plans to improve the safety of our community!

This year our chapter’s sustainability committee will be focusing on initiatives that can assist Central New York as we transition to our new normal due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We ask our members to please provide us feedback on ways the CNY ASHRAE chapter can better serve our local community and our members during these times. You can reach me directly at c010@ashrae.net.
